So many times, I find clients in my chair all saying the same thing about the last hairdresser that did their hair…

“She just didn’t listen.”

Now while I have NO over your previous experience, I do have some power over your next experience, whether you choose to have that with us or not.
You see, I firmly believe that the key to everything is in the education. So educate away I will in the guide you are just about to download.

I believe it’s a 50 / 50 split with both the client and the stylist taking ownership of the conversation and the haircut going in the direction the client intends it to go.
And since we are British, the people pleaser comes out in us far too often. We go along with what’s being said, EVEN THOUGH we disagree with it, just because we don’t want to offend anyone and then come away with something completely different to what we had in our mind…

Then what’s worse, we leave the salon saying we like it (more people-pleasing) when we don’t and then just never go back and then repeat the cycle at another salon.

While I DO NOT confess to always getting it 100% perfect at obsessions salon (We are humans too, you know), I DO state that we listen to hear, NOT to respond. And we will be honest. If a colour is going to fade out within a week, we will tell you. If a cut will not suit your face shape or frame, we will tell you.
Equally, we need that same attention to detail back from you. If you want a fringe, bring tons of pics of fringes you love and some you hate so we know what not to do. This makes life so much easier for us both.

PICTURE HACK Put your finger over the face of the woman or man in the picture and really sit with that colour or cut to see if you really like it or just want to look like the person in the picture. Do this in front of the mirror, and not if your hair is long enough, fine enough, thick enough etc., will this work in your hair?

Anyway, I could go on and on, but I will leave it there…
